For our discussion topic to start off, I decided to go straight into the sort of things that really get people going! Pagans, spiritualists, wiccans, shamans, the works, they all have this really well known "repuation" for being polyamorists, sexually liberated, even to the point of being "risque" by today's societal standards.
My questions are: 1. Do you feel people are grounded in this outsider perception? 2. Do you agree or disagree that pagans are "more likely" to be "sexually liberated"? 3. Where do you believe this idea came from? 4. Do you think it is insulting that many people feel this way or are you more apathetic?

I don't believe any opinion is grounded, but definitely not this one from outsiders, I was an outsider not to long ago and I didn't think this of spiritualists. I think its possible for people of those paths to lean more towards polyamory because they look more at the soul and that sex is a spiritual thing, but they could be that way with one person too as everyone is different. This rumor was likely created by Christians not that I have a problem with them but "since we are all devil worshipers we must sluts and man whores too right" -_-I believe its just ignorance that's stemmed thru our history amount other things. I also don't think its insulting as many spiritualists (such as myself) don't care what others think about them, they are above that stuff.

I feel that many pagans were identified with the proverbial "age of aquarius" and the many events that happened surrounding groups such as the well known Source Family. These families were pantheistic or polytheistic, did many pagan practices, but believed often in polygamy or polyandry and also believed in Dionysian practices such as the e'er infamous orgy. These were harkened back from what many people believed was a sky-clad free living and freely sexual culture that dwelled back in ancient times. Our proof of that societal form is very scattered, but people see it as natural and primal. I believe that it is too inclusive of a statement that people make. Many pagans are very sexual in nature, or are more open to group practices. I feel as if many pagans did put this belief forward and it was scooped up and accelerated by people who weren't about religious diversity, but I do not blame its existence solely on the people who wanted paganism gone. I believe many people wanted a reasoning behind hedonistic practices. In the religion, open sexuality does in many areas have its place, but there is also an idea that too much of anything isn't good for you. "an' it harm none." What worries me is the interpretations of all this in a culture that is known as the culture of excess. Give them an inch, they will take a sexy mile
