Meditations for Energy Clearing and Elemental Cleansing
Most of the time we do not notice energy from our environment slipping into our being until it is an overwhelming and apparent problem. Just as it is important to monitor your physical health, it is important to monitor your spiritual health and provide yourself with preventative care. A good way to do this is to keep a common practice of clearing out unwanted energy.
The best way to start this practice is to write a list of your own goals, dreams, values, and ambitions. Think about the person you want be, and what energy you want to put out to the world. Place this list somewhere that you will see it often, or make sure to put it somewhere that you will remember to read it often. This practice helps you to affirm what you believe, and to know what you will accept as a part of yourself, and what you will not. Feel free to change your list as you go through your own cycles of growth. You can pick items that are long term affirmations, or that are short term goals. You don’t have to decide everything you believe at one time, and you are certainly free to change your mind as you learn and grow.
There are countless visualizations you can do to clear unwanted energy, but the simplest and most effective that I have seen works with imagining an outside force filtering them for you. Visualization or meditation is most commonly used for this in personal practice, but a reiki practitioner or energy healer can also provide this service, among others. Below are visualization practices that use each of the four elements to cleanse your being.
The Great Bull of Earth
This meditation is also what some practitioners refer to as grounding. It helps you center your energy to the earth, and helps to alleviate chaotic or disjointed feelings you may get from spiritual work, or just from daily life. The side effects of this meditation are that it may reduce psychic connection in the astral realm because it aligns your energy with the earthen realm. It can be used before and after spiritual work, and is often recommended. Keep in mind that if you use this to clear unwanted energy before spiritual work, that you must also readjust your vibrations again after cleansing.
1.) Begin by sitting or lying down in a quiet space.
2.) Close your eyes and imagine yourself in a natural setting.
a. If you find this difficult, just imagine you are floating in complete darkness, and pay more attention to the vibrations of your physical body, ignoring the other senses as best you can.
3.) Begin to imagine that you are growing roots into the earth.
a. See these roots stem from your feet in any way you wish them to appear.
b. They may manifest as roots of any kind, shape or size; they may appear to be roots of white light.
4.) Begin to feel the pull of the earth as it filters your energy.
a. Feel the flow of energy into the earth and watch as debris from your spirit eneters the earth through your roots.
5.) Imagine that the earth returns its energy to you in a pure form.
6.) Allow this energy to flow until you no longer see debris.
7.) Take a moment to breath and relax and then search yourself for any impurities that you may have missed.
a. If you see anything remaining, just take a little time to work on chipping away at that energy.
b. You don’t have to get it all out at one time, in fact some of the energy may require more time and effort to remove so allow yourself to have that time and don’t feel frustrated if you encounter this.
8.) When you feel that you are as clean as you can be, retract your roots from the earth and take a moment to thank the element of earth for the assistance it has provided.
The Great Lion of Fire
Working with the element of fire to cleanse your energy is very forceful. This is a cleansing energy that is aggressive and forceful to experience. If you want to work with fire, don’t be scared!!! What you are feeling is exactly what you are trying to manifest.
1.) Begin by sitting or laying down in a quiet space.
2.) Close your eyes and imagine yourself in a natural setting.
3.) Now imagine that a small amount of sparks begin to form underneath your feet.
a. They may appear in any color to you.
b. Feel the warmth of these sparks, and know that they do not burn you, but provide a warm and cleansing sensation.
4.) Imagine that your feet now catch on fire.
a. Again, this fire may be any color.
5.) Slowly watch as the fire begins to spread until it covers your entire body.
6.) Notice the color of the smoke from the fire as it floats upward and away from you.
7.) As the fire burns you will notice that the smoke changes from a dark black as it burns away impurities, into a smoky white when the impurities have been removed.
a. Depending on the degree of energy you are trying to remove, the smoke will appear in accordance with the amount of impurities.
8.) Remember that when working with fire you must trust its judgment. You are not as in control of this meditation and the clearing of your energy. The fire will remove as much as can be at that time.
9.) When you see that the smoke is clear, allow the fire to stop starting with your feet and working its way up your body until its fizzles out at your crown chakra just above your head.
10.) Quickly take a moment to breathe and relax.
11.) Analyze the cleanliness of your spirit, and search for what the fire may have left behind.
a. If fire leaves any traces they will be slowly disintegrated as you continue this meditation.
b. Take time to ask why they are there and how you can work to remove them.
12.) When you are finished and satisfied, thank the element of fire for its assistance.
The Great Eagle of Air
When working with the forces of wind, you will feel cleansed, light, and highly connected spiritually. Wind will cleanse you and carry you to the spiritual places that you seek to be.
1.) Begin by sitting or laying down in a quiet space.
2.) Close your eyes and imagine yourself in a natural setting.
3.) Imagine that you begin to feel a great wind stirring around you.
4.) Feel that wind flowing through you from the front of your body to the back.
5.) As the wind enters you is invisible and simply a force of feeling.
6.) As the wind exits, see that it carries with it debris from your spirit.
7.) Allow the wind to cleanse you until you see it coming out as cleanly as it enters.
8.) Imagine the wind dying down and see feel yourself become light, cleansed, and connected.
9.) Remember to always check your energy for any remaining flaws.
a. Take note of these and work to diminish them further in the future, allowing the elements to change you over time as they do the earth.
10.) As you finish, thank the element of air for its assistance.
The Great Dolphin of Water
When working with the powers of water for cleansing, you will feel fresh and clean as if you have taken a spiritual shower. You will feel very aligned with compassion and the healing of others. You will be calm, cool, and collected.
1.) Begin by sitting or laying down in a quiet space.
2.) Close your eyes and imagine yourself in a natural setting.
a. It is helpful to imagine yourself in or near a body of water for this meditation.
3.) Begin to imagine a stream of water flowing through you.
a. This may be from the stream or ocean you are laying in during your visualization.
b. This may also be a stream of water flowing from an unknown origin through you and to an unknown destination.
c. You may see the water as clear, blue, or white.
4.) Watch as this water enters you from behind, or through the crown of your head.
a. Take note of the color
5.) Observe the water as it flows our through you, and see that it is dirty and mucky as it carries away debris from your spirit, cleansing you of anything preventing you from having a flow of compassion and ease in your life.
6.) Continue to allow the water to flow through you until you see that it is the same color entering as it is exiting.
7.) Allow the flow of water to subside.
8.) Take a note of any residual energy left behind that may be unwanted.
a. Make these areas the focus of future meditations.
b. Work with the elements to help remove these imperfections over time.
9.) As you finish, thank the element of water for its assistance.
